About Our Firewood

We are a small family business based in Anslow, just outside Burton upon Trent. We take pride in both the service we provide, and the quality of our firewood.

We source our hardwood from UK woodlands. All the wood we use is removed as part of forestry management and we try our best to source only local timber. We do not offer softwood firewood.

Once the cordwood reaches us, it is left to begin the drying process. Once the wood is down to around 30% moisture we cut and split the logs into drying bags and IBC cages. We put the logs into our polytunnel to finish off the drying process.

Drier wood has a higher combustion value per kg than wet wood, resulting in more heat per kg burned. The energy that would be lost in evaporating the moisture is instead emitted as heat.

We season our wood naturally, it is not kiln dried and as such has a lower carbon footprint. The process takes longer but we think it's worth it.

We are part of the Ready to Burn Scheme (#WS5375) and are an authorised supplier of firewood.

Frequently Asked Questions

We have compiled a group of our most frequently asked questions. If there is anything you would like clarification on, or something missing, get in touch. There are no stupid questions!

What's the difference between hardwood and softwood logs?

Softwood logs burn much more quickly as they are from fast growing species of trees. The wood is less dense, contains less fuel, leading to a hot, but short burn.

Hardwood logs are from slower growing species of trees such as Ash, Oak, Beech etc. The wood is denser, contains more fuel, and as such burns longer and hotter.

We make sure that we select the best quality hardwood logs for our firewood, to guarantee a warm home.

How long will a bag of hardwood logs last?

There's no simple answer to this question unfortunately, as it depends on a number of factors. depending on usage, and the efficiency of your log burner. Open fires are very inefficient and will use a lot more wood.

As an example, I personally have a 5kw log burner, which is always on during the winter, day and night, and I use a bag approximately every four to six weeks. I keep the fire turned right down when we are out for the day and open it up in the evenings.

How many logs are in a large bag?

A large bag contains approximately 0.5m³ of neatly stacked logs. The exact number of logs will depend on the size they are cut to, but typically there are around 240 logs in a large bag of 10", and approximately 200 logs in a large bag of 12".

Our boot bags contain approximately 30 10" logs.

How do I order?
Contact us by WhatsApp, phone, Facebook or Instagram to let us know what you would like to order and we'll book you a delivery slot, or arrange a collection. Payment is either cash on delivery or by bank transfer.
How does delivery work?

We will bring the logs to you in our small delivery truck, and using our crane, will offload them as close as possible to where you want them. We also have a trolley to get them to harder to reach areas. Please get in touch if you are physically impaired and we will help you get them stored.

I've never had a log burner before, can you help me learn how to light it?

Yes! It can be daunting to learn how to light your fire for the first time, there are hundreds of YouTube videos out there but everyone's fire is slightly different so we are more than happy to help.

Do you do discounts on bulk orders?

Yes, we do offer discounts on bulk orders. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements and we will be happy to provide a quote.
